Protagonist:
Main character with a clear concrete want that is trackable to the audience. This could be a relationship with a character, power or status in society, the answer to an existential question, or anything else they’re searching for.
Antagonist:
Character that is an obstacle to the protagonist and what they want, someone imposing and difficult for the protagonist to wrestle with. Usually the villain.
Relationship Character:
Character that tells the protagonist what they need to do to get past the main obstacle and how they need to change their life.
The Distraction Character:
Character that encourages the protagonist to take the wrong way past the obstacle and delays their progress, often with an immoral outlook.
Emotion Character:
Character who has an emotional reaction to the main conflict.
Reason Character:
Character who wants to logically figure out the main conflict.
Support Character:
Character who is extremely supportive and loyal to the protagonist.
Opposition Character:
Character that puts doubt in the audience’s mind that the protagonist can succeed; is skeptical of the protagonist’s ability.
