[VIDEO] Editing Short Stories for Publication

You know we love to inject a little video content into the AutoCrit blog from time to time, and so today we’re taking a break to bring you a little help on a topic that’s often overlooked — especially when you’re searching for advice on self-editing.

That topic is short stories, and if — for example — you decided to eschew going for the full novel during NaNoWriMo in favor of tackling a short story collection, this video from The Book Editor Show will be right up your street.

An informative talk between The Book Editor Show host Clark Chamberlain and guest presenter Leslie Watts, it’s quite a lengthy video — clocking in at just under 40 minutes — but if you tend to veer towards short fiction and are looking for ways to help tighten and refine stories which should be extremely tight to begin with, we reckon you’ll find it well worth the time.

Most enjoyable here is not just the actionable editing tips, but the engaging conversation and back-and-forth of thoughts and opinions that the two commentators bring to the table. Have fun!
