AutoCrit is specifically designed for authors who want to cut down the time and stress involved in producing a professionally edited manuscript, without compromising on the quality of their work or their creative vision. Writers of all levels of experience are welcome here, as both the software and our live clubs and events help build and guide stronger technique and storytelling prowess across the board.

Can I get help with using AutoCrit?

For the best possible user experience, AutoCrit includes a full suite of guides and explanations to help you interpret each analysis, plus advice on best practices for self-editing. What kind of tech do I need to use AutoCrit?

AutoCrit is an online web-based platform. Although the site and tools are optimized for mobile viewing, we recommend using a desktop or laptop PC/Mac for the best experience.

Is there an offline app available?

AutoCrit Pro now offers offline mode! You can now write on your projects during offline mode. However, tools such as the Story Builder, Story Analyzer, and Backwards Blueprint will need to wait until you are connected to the internet once again.

You can, however, choose to print or save your editing reports with highlights included, so you can complete your tweaks the old-fashioned way when you’re on the road.

What if it's not for me?

No problem! You can cancel at any time. We’re happy to offer your first month at a great discount because we’d rather you have a chance to find out if AutoCrit is the perfect fit instead of just taking our word for it.

I've worked hard to develop my voice as a writer. Will AutoCrit take that away?

Absolutely not. AutoCrit produces recommendations based on style guidelines and trends in published fiction and non-fiction, but you’re always in control as the author. There are no hard rights or wrongs, here, so simply ignore any recommendation that doesn’t work for you.

I already have a human editor I trust with my work. Would AutoCrit still be helpful?

Yes! When you revise your draft with AutoCrit first, you’ll give your editor a much cleaner manuscript. That means they can stop focusing on nitty-gritty details like how many adverbs you’ve used (almost always too many) and start looking at the bigger picture of the story itself… so your book knocks it out of the park on every level.

We love human editors (in fact, quite a few use our software!), so it’s our goal to make sure you have the best, most rewarding experience working together.

Does AutoCrit use generative AI?

AutoCrit uses generative AI inside the Inspiration Studio, Story Analyzer, and Alpha/Beta Readers to provide contextual feedback and spark ideas.

These tools are completely optional and different to how the editing side of the platform operates. All editing reports are based on algorithmic, simple data sets, with no generative AI involved.

AutoCrit’s use of AI is purely assistive. As it stands, the software will not write for you. If you’re looking for a program that will take a basic idea and then produce chapters of prose on your behalf, we’re afraid AutoCrit won’t be the right fit.

Will AutoCrit write my book for me?

No. While generative AI is used to help with ideation, feedback and planning, AutoCrit will not write your book for you.

Even if it's optional, will my work be used to "train" AI if I use AutoCrit?

Absolutely not. Any generative AI used is output only. Nothing is ever fed back into the AI’s knowledge base nor used to train it for future responses. We’re as protective of our members’ work as we are of our own.

Is my work and data secure?

Absolutely. AutoCrit employs the highest industry standard encryption/security, and never sells, rents, or shares your work or your personal data with anyone.

Are there limits or additional costs for tool usage, such as for manuscript analysis?

Not at all. As an AutoCrit Pro member, you have unlimited access to all of the platform’s software tools, including AI analysis. Unlike some other writing platforms, we don’t limit your usage or ask you to pay more to analyze your work multiple times.
